Mercedes-AMG CLE Mythos: Hardcore, Bewinged Coupe

Deep in the frozen tundra of Scandinavia, Mercedes-AMG is hard at work on its next project. Dubbed the CLE Mythos, this is no ordinary car. The German giant is building a hardcore, bewinged coupe that takes the CLE concept and pushes it to the limit. We're told it's "an even more uncompromising appearance" that positions itself as a "genuine statement on the road." In other words, this is a car that's been stripped of all pretenses and left to its own devices. The first official images show a car that's unmistakably CLE, but with a few key tweaks. A massive rear wing dominates the rear end, giving this beast a distinctly aggressive stance. It's a bold move, and one that suggests this car is not for the faint of heart. We’re told it’s “an even more uncompromising appearance” that positions itself as a “genuine statement on the road.” In other words, this is a car that’s been stripped of all pretenses and left to its own devices.

The first official images show a car that’s unmistakably CLE, but with a few key tweaks. A massive rear wing dominates the rear end, giving this beast a distinctly aggressive stance. It’s a bold move, and one that suggests this car is not for the faint of heart. AMG hasn’t revealed any powertrain details, but we’re told it’s backed by a “correspondingly powerful drivetrain and performance to match.” That’s all we can say for now, but our sources suggest this might be even more hardcore than the current 53-series CLE.

The Purespeed, AMG’s first “Mythos” car, was a rebodied, roofless AMG GT/SL that commanded a price tag of £800,000. If this CLE Mythos follows suit, it’s likely to be a truly exclusive offering. We’re talking limited numbers, high price tags, and a whole lot of attitude. The question on everyone’s lips is: how much will this car cost, and how many will be built? Only time will tell.

For now, we can only speculate about what’s under the bonnet of this beast. Will it be a high-revving V8, or perhaps something even more exotic? Whatever it is, we’re told it’s “correspondingly powerful” and will give this CLE a performance to match its aggressive appearance. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel and find out for ourselves.
